*Please note that this performance has moved to Greenwood Theater (it was originaly scheduled to be in the Black Box Theatre) for both performances.*
Boom Arts, in partnership with Reed College, presents two public peformances of Chilean contemporary puppet theatre troupe Silencio Blanco and their wordless fable about Chilean coal miners, Chiflón, El Silencio del Carbón (the Silence of Coal).
Based on a novella and developed through the company's residency in the Chilean mining village of Lota, The Silence of Coal is a modern tragedy: a tale of hope, loss, and love, set in a contemporary context of poverty, risk, and exploitation. This deeply moving, hauntingly gorgeous puppet play is performed with words.
Please note that Chiflón, El Silencio del Carbón (the Silence of Coal) is not a work made specifically for children. All audience members are requested to sit quietly for the full hour-long performance, therefore, patrons who choose to bring children age 5+ should be advised that this requirement applies to audience members of all ages.
All reserveable tickets are taken, but we encourage you to sign up for the waitlist for either of the two performances. Claim your spot on the wait list by arriving by 7:10 p.m. day of show, and you'll be admitted at showtime if general-admission reservations are not claimed. http://www.boomarts.org/
