Nationalisms and the New Right in Twenty-First Century Europe

Throughout Europe, a narrow, ethnic-based nationalism has arisen in opposition to the European Union, the crisis of global neoliberalism, and migration, both within Europe and to Europe. The week before the first round of the French elections on April 23, three historians of twentieth century Europe will reflect on the rise of new nationalisms and right wing populism in the United Kingdom, Russia, and France. The speakers will be Radhika Natarajan and Leah Goldman of the Reed history department and Joe Bohling of Portland State University.
