Well it's happened—another commencement has come and gone. Another group of students has officially joined the Reed diaspora and spread out around the world—so it must be time for our thirteenth annual pizza night to welcome them! This rite of passage has become the traditional occasion for the larger community of Reed alumni to celebrate our newest members with food and drink!
In addition to providing food and drink we will also be offering our invaluable advice on living in NYC, finding that perfect job, or figuring out how to move somewhere else because New York City is not what you expected! But seriously, some folks who’ve lived in the City for a while will be around to chat and if there is a particular area of interest or concern not covered we’ll do follow up and find someone you can chat with soon after! Think of us as your Reed College Alumni Dojo!
We’re thrilled and appreciative to announce an exciting new venue for the get together! Cay-Sophie Rabinowitz, Class of ‘89, is offering her gallery, OSMOS, at 50 East 1st Street, New York, NY 10003 for the event, where coincidentally and wonderfully the current exhibit is another Reedie, namely Sam Falls, class of '07, showing Cross Country (driving, flying, listening), a multi-media video installation work that we will be able to take in while we're there!
We’ll order pizza from nearby and we’ll have some beer and wine available! If you have a favorite six pack or bottle, bring it! The plan is for newer alumni to eat and drink for free (Class of ’17 we guarantee no cost to you!) with the rest of us getting subsidized a bit based on our need, age or desire! Reed is throwing in some money per head so between them and Cay-Sophie’s wonderfully supplying the venue for gratis this should be a great time for all without hurting anyone’s wallet!
The party/event will start at 7PM on Sunday, October 15th! So come by to meet the Class of ’17 and your fellow NYC Reed alumni, offer sage advice to folks that actually want to hear it, and learn about the alumni chapter future events! RSVP if you wish to Brian Graham-Jones ’81 at firstname.lastname@example.org! See you there!
