Themes of intimacy, collaboration, and the subconscious mind are the themes tackled by Reed dance thesis candidates Olivia Hasencamp, Mackenzie Schuller, and Rika Yotsumoto.
These three performance makers integrate their studies of the choreographic methods from Bouchra Ouizguen (Morocco), Ohad Naharin (Israel), Wim Vandekeybus (Belgium), and Bailarines Toda La Vida (Argentina) to expand movement possibilities in each of three new choreographic works.
In Greetings & Elaborations, Olivia Hasencamp sculpts a process that situates our living, breathing selves within the world-wide-web, counting on the physical and the ephemeral to inform our connections, gestures and desires. Performed by Liv Veazey, Grace McNalley, Maya Feldthouse, Archer Grano, Morgan Meister, and Kaitlyn Hepp.
Sensation at Blurred Edges, directed by MacKenzie Schuller, is the product of improvisational and choreographic explorations of the kinesthetic sense, of an expansion of movement possibility, and of the creation of intimacy within our cast. We have engaged with contact and image-driven improvisation practices to guide our investigations, and tuned into sensation and awareness to push us forward. Sensation at Blurred Edges performers include Charles Bales, Laura Kennedy, Emmie King, Soroa Lear, MacKenzie Schuller, and Katie Stallings, with live music performed by Nolan Anderson. We are aware of the charged spaces in between us. We pour weight into each other to find flight. We listen to our internal rhythms, and find a dance together.
Land of Nod
We are thrilled to announce, that
We ourselves were quite surprised, that
And have little knowledge of why or in which order
We do, however, with certainty know, that
And will continue our work in making sure, that
However, We regret to inform you that this is not it.1
